Each record includes a transcript. The amount of information listed varies, but the Queensland Assisted Immigration 1848-1912 records usually include the following information:

This index was compiled from Registers of Immigrants’ Ships Arrivals between 1848 and 1912, which were created and used by the immigration department of the Australian state of Queensland.

These registers contained passenger lists of immigrant ships that arrived in Queensland. Details recorded on the passenger list vary widely between the registers and over the course of time, but typically recorded the ship name, its tonnage, its dates of departure and arrival, as well as the names of masters and surgeons aboard the vessel.

These passenger lists primarily recorded assisted passengers from the United Kingdom and Europe. As such, this index does not include passengers who arrived in Queensland from non-European ports, nor does it include those who arrived from other Australian ports (as these were separate colonies at the time). These records also contain only a few lists that contain details of passengers who paid their own fare.

Typically the passenger lists were arranged by type of passage (that is, whether it was free, assisted, steerage, and so on). In some cases, a summary of passengers may also be included, containing information on any births and deaths that may have occurred during the voyage.

Another thing to note is that this index does not cover all immigration records in Queensland for this period. The records for the 1860s, for example, are incomplete due to flood damage in 1893. The registers held at Queensland State Archives were rewritten from the damaged originals during that period and as such some may contain errors; some ships have two dates of arrival recorded, for instance. In these cases, you may need to carry out further research to confirm the correct details.
