Frequently asked questions
Do you offer access for schools / libraries
We offer a range of options to libraries, schools, companies and other organisations that want to use Findmypast. We make it easy for you to provide multiple users with access to our site. Choose which of the options below best suits you then get in touch. As with the consumer site, you can choose to have access to records just from Britain, or all our records from around the world.
"Findmypast is an excellent database of resources - it's extremely professional and offers great service. I deal with people researching every day and this site is the one I constantly refer people to." - Kathy Smalley, Family & Local History Librarian
Access for libraries and schools
We have created the Findmypast Community Edition, which is specially designed for libraries, schools, family history societies, research centres and archives.
When you subscribe to the Community Edition you will benefit from:
Full access to Findmypast* records
Sign-in based on your IP address you use so you will not have to manage usernames and passwords
A brand new reporting and administration tool that shows you how much your subscription is being used
Great discounts when you also subscribe to our sister website, the British Newspaper Archive
Your customers can also take their research home as they will continue to have access to any records that they have viewed within Community Edition outside your premises, and can continue building their family tree for free.
Sales are handled by our partner, JCS Online Resources.
