What can these records tell me?

Gainsborough Poor Law Union

The first surviving minute book for the Gainsborough Union begins in August 1845 and contains many marriage notices for couples who wished to marry by special licence, usually in non-conformist places of worship. Most of the notices up to 1852 include the places of residence of the couple, plus where the marriage was to take place. Unfortunately the minutes from February 1855 to October 1858 have not survived.
