A monumental inscription is an etching carved into stone, wood, or a plaque to memorialise a person buried near or in that location. Monumental inscriptions are a valuable source for family historians and genealogists. Many will include multiple names and help to trace family connections. Over the centuries, many of these monuments to our ancestors have been damaged by weather, exposure, and, in some cases, vandalism.
