What can these records tell me?

Those who had horses or cattle branded them with a unique symbol or lettering, allowing them to be identified and tracked. This marking is referred to as the "brand". This collection contains three large volumes that have tens of thousands of such brands for stock in Queensland. The three volumes included are 1920 to 1921, 145 to 1948, and 1949 to 1952.

Earmark registered
Cheek brand, or symbol
Name of owner
Address of owner
Certificate number (in some cases)
They are divided into several sections including:
Instructions and rules of branding
List of brands registered to public pounds and government departments
Lists of brands separated into brand structure: i.e. letters, numbers, symbols and their combinations etc.
