What are Collections and how do they work?

Collections allow you to save and organise your favourite Findmypast newspaper clippings. You can create Collections about any topic and add clippings to one or multiple Collections.

There is no limit to the number of Collections you can have or the number of clippings that you can add to a Collection.

Creating Collections and adding clippings

To create a Collection, visit My Collections, select the 'Create new +' button, give the Collection a name, add an optional description, and save.

You can add newspaper clippings to a Collection in two ways: 

1. Go to your All Clippings folder, where you'll find all of your newspaper clippings. Select the three dots icon under the clipping you'd like to add to a Collection, then choose 'add to collection'. From there, choose the Collection(s) you want to add the clipping to and select 'save'.
2. While viewing a page in our newspaper archive, select the built-in clipper tool to make a clipping. Choose the snippet of the article you want to save, then select 'clip'. From there, you'll see the option to save your clipping in an existing Collection. Or, you can create a new Collection to store the clipping.

Editing and deleting Collections

To edit a Collection you’ve created:

1. Open the Collection you want to change.
2. Select the edit button to make changes to the Collection's name or description.

To remove a clipping from a Collection:

1. Select the three dots icon under the clipping you'd like to delete.
2. Select 'remove clipping' to delete it from that Collection.

To delete an entire Collection:

1. Open the Collection, and select 'Delete'.
2. The Collection will be deleted. Any clippings that were in the deleted Collection will still be available in your All Clippings folder.

To delete a clipping:

1. Visit your All Clippings folder.
2. Select the three dots icon under the clipping you'd like to delete.
3. Select 'delete clipping'

This will permanently delete that clipping and remove it from any Collection it might be saved to.
