The Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) is happy to be working in partnership with findmypast.co.uk. The members of the FFHS have amassed, over a period of decades, an enormous amount of high-quality data, much of which predates civil registration in England and Wales.
Baptism, marriage, burial and census records
These valuable records, formerly available to search on FamilyHistoryOnline.net, have been transferred onto findmypast.co.uk. Added to this will be new data, never before online, from the contributing family history societies. The baptism, marriage, burial, census and other historical records will benefit greatly from being placed within the wider context of findmypast.co.uk's 650 million records, and richly deserve the increased audience that they will gain.
When the partnership was formed in 2007, Elaine Collins, Commercial Director of findmypast.co.uk, said:
'Findmypast.co.uk can provide the appropriate platform to drive much greater traffic and usage to the data. This will result in greater awareness of currently underused datasets, such as the National Burial Index records, and generate heightened recognition and increased revenue to help further the objectives of the Federation and the member societies.'
Geoff Riggs, then Chairman of the Federation of Family History Societies, said:
'We see this as a very timely opportunity to raise significantly both the revenue and the profile of those societies by capitalising on findmypast.co.uk's undoubted expertise. We are working in harmony with the findmypast.co.uk team to realise our shared aim of bringing our member societies' records to a growing audience worldwide.'
