Information for Users

Below we have listed some FAQs for current FamilyHistoryOnline customers.

Why transfer the data to findmypast.co.uk?

The hosting of FamilyHistoryOnline by findmypast.co.uk will provide far greater access to this valuable information and bring the data to the attention of a worldwide audience. It will also increase revenue to the family history societies who own the data, affording them a greater income to support their educational, project and other work.

When will the transfer to findmypast.co.uk take place?

The transfer of records will begin with the National Burial Index records. The transfer will take place in stages as the societies give their individual permission for their other records. It is hoped that the transfer of date will begin in November.

Will all the data be available on findmypast.co.uk?

We hope that almost all of the data on FamilyHistoryOnline will be available on findmypast.co.uk, society permissions permitting, in one form or another, and we are already aware of additions to the FHO data. In some cases, however, the census indexes and transcriptions from family history societies will not be transferred because findmypast.co.uk has already published full transcriptions and indexes.

What will happen to any FHO voucher that I haven't fully used?

FHO customers will not lose out financially from the final transfer of the records onto findmypast.co.uk. You will be able to use any vouchers you buy up until the end of the current FamilyHistoryOnline service, at which point there will be a transfer of any outstanding balance. You will be notified how to activate your credits, so please make sure you have notified us of any changes to your email address. Your FamilyHistoryOnline voucher will not work on findmypast.co.uk nor will your findmypast.co.uk voucher work on the current FamilyHistoryOnline service whilst it remains in operation.
