Calderdale Family History Society

The Calderdale Family History Society incorporates Halifax and District and was founded on 7th March 1985. Since that time our membership has grown to in excess of 500 members from members in the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States of America.

We meet on the 4th Thursday of each month. We have guest speakers at each meeting discussing various topics which we feel will be of interest to our members. A copy of these topics is included in our quarterly publication of 'The Scrivener'.

  • We have an ongoing publications programme producing DVDs & Downloadable files.
  • We operate a Members' Interests System from our website in which members can publish their interests by surname, showing both research done, and information required, by date.
  • We operate a free Search Facility for members to allow them access to our 2.5 million records.
  • We have a Research Room, open to the public, in Brighouse Library in Rydings Park, which is open on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.

Our areas of interest encompass the towns, main villages and parishes of Calderdale in the old West Riding of Yorkshire. For more information visit our website.

The Calderdale Family History Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.
